Can you run 2 lithium batteries in parallel?

Like individual cells, you can combine batteries together in parallel to achieve higher energy/power (amp-hours, amps). Up to two batteries can be put in parallel . To combine batteries in parallel, connect positive to positive and negative to negative as shown in Figure 4 right.

As long as both charge a 12 V battery then it's ok - as long as the output of each charger is at 12 volts at all times that it is connected. I have this setting for years and it is working fine.

The absolute best way to balance cells is connect cells in parallel that are at 80 % SOC or less, and then use a power supply (3.6 V for Phosphate cells, 4.2 V for LiPo or Cobalt cells) to slowly bring all the cells to 100 % SOC.

Do not leave the battery cell during the charging phase from 3.50V to 3.65V. Please turn off the system at night. Top balancing is a long process and may last for several days or more than a week .

You can run BMS units in parallel . If one does go into protect, the other will likely go into over current protect fairly soon after. Be sure to check their calibration and set them to the exact same shut off points. there are some benefits to building the system as 2 or 3, or even 4 separate batteries.
